Recently I worked directly under doctors studying cholesterol at HNRC, a division of Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. Much of my time was spent shadowing a doctor by the name of Ernst Schaffer. Lipitor was the most commonly prescribed drug. Often times, however, it was not necessary in less severe circumstances. In these cases he prescribed fish oil. These tablets worked very well for many individuals. Cholesterol health is not purely based on eradication, but a balance between good (HDL) and Bad (LDL). Fish oils provide this balance between the two. From the many cases that I witnessed, I recommend GNC Triple Strength Fish Oil, one tablet in the morning and one tablet at night, taken with food. Obviously, these measures are more effective with exercise. Aerobic exercise of 15-20 minutes a day can be incredibly effective. If, however, cholesterol does rise to dangerous levels, Lipitor, or similar medication may be necessary.

Good Luck,

Matthew

sure cereal works, being special k or cheerios. it all comes down to what foods you eat, and the quantity of food. chowing down greasy and fatty foods isnt going to help. by adding extra servings of fruit (2 bananas, 2 apples, 2 oranges) and vegetables(snack sized portions) a day, and drinking obscene amounts of water (no more soda, coffee, etc.). keeping a food diary and sticking with something like that (fitday.com) makes you more aware of what foods you are consuming throughout the day. do some extra exercise as well. take the stairs, not the elevator. little things likt that add up. not only will it help reduce cholesterol, the health food will help you tone up some too.

To make it plain and simple. Eat CHEERIOS CEREAL!!! lol...it may sound funny, but eat a bowl a day and it works. Make sure you also drink lots of water and cut down on your salt intake. Easiest thing to do, plus your doctors will agree.

I found a product a few years back at WalMart that lowered my cholesterol 20 points in one month! I did not believe it was true, but I since have had others use this product (which is only sold on line now) and I was amazed to find that they are having the same positive results. Here is the website for the product. (Hey, I know it sounds too good to be true, but it has worked to lower cholesterol for every single person I have referred to it)

Give it one or two months, and you will honestly be so happy with the results.

I hope this helps!

This might sound really silly...but doesn't Cheerios help lower your cholesterol?
My dad suffers from high-cholesterol and he lives by Cheerios... He has two bowls a day, one as part of his breakfast and one as part of dinner,,,

So, they say animal fat is bad, to limit intake of fat to 25-30 % of calories (approx. 5 tablespoons/day), etc. Well, consider these facts, extracted from a book that I would recommend highly to ANYone, Sally Fallon's book titled Nourishing Traditions.
Before 1920, coronary heart disease was rare in America... today, it causes at least 40% of all US deaths. Yet, proportion of traditional animal fat has declined from 83% to 62%, and butter consumption from 18 lbs./person per year, to 4. (This is from 1910 to 1970). Yet, percentage of dietary veggie oils in margarine, shortening, and refined oils increased 400%, and sugar and processed foods increased about 60%.
Go figure. A study of the heart in Framingham, Mass. studied 6,000 people on two diets, one with little cholesterol and sat. fat, and one who consumed large amounts. After FORTY YEARS, the director said, "In Framingham, Mass., the more sat. fat one ate, the more cholesterol one ate, the more calories one ate, the lower the person's serum cholesterol... [and] weighed the least and were the most physically active."
The list of examples goes on. Read for yourself. The point is, that traditionally, "we" ate liberally of animal meat/fats, milk, organ meats, butter, etc., but not vegetable oil, processed foods, or white flour. I was a vegetarian for years, and ate pretty well for being one, too... yet ended up with SEVERE deficiencies that I'm only beginning to heal, with what? With seafood, bone broths, LOTS of protein and FAT (animal based and milk based, along with coconut oil). I can't give you a personal account of a battle with cholesterol, and care not for the money, but hope that you will consider that your diet is probably ALL that needs to change, and most likely that change should be for whole foods, animal protein, good fats, and eliminating white flour, processed food, veggie oils like margarine.... cook with coconut oil or butter, especially at higher temps., and some with olive oil, almond, peanut. Pecan, cashew, or avocado have good fats too, but obviously you can't buy their oils to cook with. Make sure to get PLENTY of Omega 3s (we have more than enough Omega 6), from fish liver oil, krill oil, flax, etc. Dont' cook with them. Rancid oils from too much oxygen and heat cause free radicals, which seem to be the culprit in damaging blood vessels, to which plaque is simply the body's natural remedy to give the blood vessel some integrity (strength) again.
Aloha!

Health is all your wealth! You have noticed lowering your cholesterol is the best choice for your quality of life. I would simply suggest you become vegetarian, not all at once but progressively. "I can't live without meat is simply balloney"

I was raised on kierbasa, pork chops, chicken and rabbits...horse meat and one day by God's grace, all went by the window thirty five years ago. Plus you will feel good not to take an animal's life to feed you and live longer. Ten years in the average over meat eaters. Better too and how flattering someone says "are you in your fourty's" when you are close to sixty! LOL! Or at least the minimum is chicken and fish lean meats to start with. Anything fried is loaded with cholesterol. So Macdo is out and welcome to www.noodles.com or www.panera.com

The real trouble is visceral fat, leptin and adiponectin. www.vibrantlife.com

Meatless balloney that it. I eat a bit of eggs and that troublesome cheese if you live in Wisconsin. All loaded with cholesterol. The first step then is to lower you intake of cholesterol is to excercise regularly. I just bought a bicycle and pedal my way to the lake front on a nature trail in the city down hill. Coming back is where the rubber meets the road. The cholesterol level goes down!

Improving your health in natural ways of lowering cholesterol is a good investment.
A bit of weight lifting, jumping ropes, walking are all good methods to keep you looking young and have a low metabolism and cholesterol count. I started at 182 lbs and now down to about 162 lbs with a goal to lose 4 lbs a month for the next 6 months.

The natural herbal supplements I am taking now are www.12inone.com and
www.lipocerin.com designed to help you lower your cholesterol

Learn to win the battle of the bulge and what a shame when my daughter Camille told me: "paps are you pregnant and when is the baby due?" lost twent pounds or
8kgs since and feeling better. Rock n'rolling on bicycle and walking to look great.
Tonight I had a nice lady waved at me in her S.U.V...oh la la she was cute!

That was the start of my reform and a change to look thinner and healthier.
A good investment is www.bottomlinesecrets.com is advising to check first on www.safemedicines.org to find out if for example the cholesterol - lowering drug atorvastatin (lipitor) have been counterfeited. www.fda.gov/medwatch/how.htm.

Then you will say in French.." a votre sante messieurs et mesdames" Yes, enjoy a
lower level of cholesterol..
