In response to Purse Creation Rewards.

You have the choice to decide in which epoch you live - futur or past - just give it a name! Let us know how you would imagine your daily life, surrounding and the persons near to you.

I would choose the west from 1945 on... That way I would be in time for all the good things like better health services, modern appliances and easier world travel -- and hopefully I would be dead by the time the world is 1000 degrees, there are no more fish or animals, no real food (only Monsanto products) and not enough fresh water... =)

I really would like to read how you would imagine your daily life, mixed up with the feelings, impressions and thoughts born by the historical situation!
And I guess unfortunately everybody is dead by the time the world is 1000 degrees!!!
Have a wonderful summer Peppermint!

I don't know....

I would have the pick several time periods. The mid 1800's strike me as the most interesting. Modernity and old-fashioned things were intermingling. The camera was beginning to become widespread, warfare was developing, and civil rights were starting to gain a little more appeal.

My main interest has always been in the American Civil War, but worldwide there were so many fascinating things going on. I would pick this time period because it's similar to the modern age with several creature comforts, and the dissemination of news was becoming much faster, so I could experience these fascinating events first hand through things like the telegraph.

Also, the experience of the railroads would draw me. The feeling of isolation gradually eroding away before your very eyes must have been an amazing feeling!

and railroads, VM1138- as I'm very interested in history, I'm really looking forward following you through that time and see the pictures/ informations you will show us!

Just after the last war, all hopes were allowed, after experiencing the worst, everything was possible again. There were taking a conscience, a spirit of revolt to stop all accepting , " a wind of freedom" and hyper creativity...
Sorry I can not describe the daily life I do not have enough English vocabulary, may be someone vill choose the same time???

nice idea, you would play the guitar and I would dance in my mum's
absolutely crazy clothes! So which song?

comment Submitted by mjontheweb on Mon, 06/09/2008 - 9:43am.

you are sarcastic..????..
I was thinking about something less superficial than the clothes!!!
.A lot of people have nostalgia for those years: vegetariens, living close to nature, without television, health care by plants etc...I expect thinking about real human values :fight against rascism , freedom of women....freedom of expression...

(peace and love) Majou
for the song I leave you choose (lol) <:)

I'm totally serious about the clothes, I don't think it is sooo bad! By the way, just so important that I studied fashion, so...no, really this is what I remember. I still see my Mum in her very, very crazy but beautiful dresses, feeling free to wear these in a boring little conservative German village, and she was full of hope and very positive and open to the future, what she was able to express with her clothes ( often selfmade by my Granny!), everybody in the village got the message! And there had been Parties every weekend with a lot of people and children, with selfmade music most time by my Dad! Maybe they didn't discussed so much about higher values but just lived it. ( Did you read Michel Houellebecq's " Les particules élémentaires? sorry, I don't know the English title, it is horrible and shows the shadowy part of that time, interesting so far!)

hello Petra,
I read" les particules élémentaires", horrible!!!! M.Houellebecq is known to despise for his contemporary...and most importantly, see things very dark humans.
also, you' re right, finally, each time its share of darkness...
And your proposal is to choose simply "une époque" so I choose... en français
" la belle époque" It's a beautiful name...Tu connais???
