In response to The Worst Night I've Ever Had....
Man!!! Good Topic...
True Story,
I remember the dream like I had it only a few nights ago, there were no additional people just me, no air, and some water... And the worse thing about it: It was reoccurring.
The dream was very short, but in the same sense scary, because it almost killed me. The only part I remember is I am at the bottom of a body of water (maybe an ocean or even a lake) and obviously I have depleted the air I had and I am rushing to the surface so I can get a breath of air! The scary part of the dream is not even a part of the dream. While I am laying there sleeping for some odd reason I am holding my breath preventing my from getting any air. So not only am I "struggling to get air at the surface of the water" in the dream, in actuality I am getting no air, because I am holding my breath. As I get closer and closer to the surface, in the dream, I am, in reality, causing myself to get more and more lightheaded because I am really not getting any air...As I burst through the surface, in the dream, I finally wake up and take a break breathing heavily in an effort to restore normal respiration....
I will never forget it. It was the dreams that almost killed me...Literally!

My boyfriend had that problem -- and it sounds like you did, too when you had that dream! Scary stuff. It makes for a good story, though!
